Salihler

İçinde pek çok kökenden insanı da barındıran köye bir hastalık musallat olup o köydeki yalnızca üç Salih’i öldürürse, bu köye “Salihler” denmesine şaşırılmaz.

Salihler Köyü’ne ilk girdiğimizde bizi bir boşluk karşılıyor. Kahve sessiz, sokaklar ıssız. Buranın terkedilmemiş olduğunu anladığımız ilk belirtiler sokaklardaki çöpler, oyunlardan kalan izler ve yeni caminin inşaatındaki işçiler oluyor. Bu inşaatı gezerken, minaresi Dikili Merkez Cami’nin minare ustasının elinden çıkan 100 yıllık bir camiyi yıkarak, yerine yeni bir cami yaptıklarını öğreniyoruz. Üstelik sadece tarihi bir camiyi yıkmakla kalmayıp, ordaki pek çok Osmanlı’dan kalma mezarları da tahrip ettiklerini görüyoruz. Yıkılan camiden geriye bırakılan minarenin yeni camiyle arasındaki uyumsuzluk ise bize dikkat çekici geliyor.

Bu “içi boşaltılmış kabak gibi” olan köyün yaşayanları sabahları Salihleraltı’na gidip ticaretle uğraşıyorlar, denize giriyorlar, çocuklar her sabah Kıratlı köyündeki büyük ilkokula yürüyorlar. Kısacası sabahları, gece yattıkları evlerinden uzaklarda yaşıyor; geceleri ise Salihler’deki evlerine dönerek, sabah bizi karşılayan o “boşluğu” dolduruyorlar.

Belki de Salihler, çok yüzü olup hiç yüzü olmayan bir köy gibi.

Once upon a time a disease came to Salihler Village, which had people from a lot of different origins, and causedonly three people with the same name to die. Since all three deceased people were called Salih,village took its name from this incident.

When we first came to the village, emptiness greets us. The coffee house is silent, the streets are deserted…  The first things that give us the impression that it is not deserted are the trash and traces of children’s games on the streets and the construction workers at the construction site of the new mosque. While we were looking around at the construction site, we learned that they were building a new mosque after demolishing a 100 year old historical mosque which has a minaret which was built by the same craftsman by Dikili Mosque. On top of that we see that they have torn down a lot of historical Ottoman graves during the construction. The lack of harmony between the old minaret and the new mosque is striking for us.

This village that resembles a “gourd which was carved empty”. The villagers go to Salihleraltı every morning for their commercial activities, they swim, the kids walk to the big primary school in Kıratlı Village. Shortly they live away from their homes and at night they return their village to fill the emptiness that greeted us in the morning.

Maybe Salihler is like a Village both with many faces but no face at the same time.
